Dr. Fleming highlights how the parenting program’s tailored, individualised approach to treatment delivery helps identify barriers of treatment for each family to break the cycle of chronic noncompliance and anger outbursts.

Parents are “not coming to us to learn how to parent in the same way that they’re not coming to us to learn how to drive a car – they can already drive the car,” Prof. Kimonis said. “It’s like they’re coming to us to learn how to be like a Formula One driver, because parenting these types of children requires a different set of skills and almost a super parenting approach.”
