Dr. Kristy Donnelly
Dr Kristy Donnelly is a registered Psychologist with a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology with Excellence from the University of New South Wales (UNSW). She is also a Clinical Psychology Registrar undergoing training towards endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist. She received her PhD from the University of Adelaide in 2020 where her research involved phenotyping a monogenic epilepsy and working closely with children and families affected by neurodevelopmental disorders. Kristy’s research led to the development of a website and disorder guide designed to provide information for clinicians and affected families. She continues to collaborate with family associations and is currently developing an educational video series to support individuals affected by neurodevelopmental disorders. Kristy completed her BSc-psychology with First Class Honours at Macquarie University in Sydney. Kristy is a recipient of the Australian Postgraduate Award, Florey Medical Research Foundation Prize, Adelaide Medical School Research Travel Award, Macquarie University Psychology Department Prize for Academic Excellence, and Macquarie University Biological Sciences Department Mollie Thomson Award. Kristy has also received prizes for her work at the Florey Postgraduate Research and Biological Psychiatry Australia conferences and has published an expert review in the high impact, international journal Molecular Psychiatry. Since 2016, Kristy’s research has been presented at 20 different local, national, and international conferences and she has co-authored several peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters.
Kristy combines warmth and humour to create a fun and collaborative environment for families to develop and strengthen their relationship, and she is committed to supporting parents to confidently manage their children’s behavior and prevent problems developing. Kristy has clinical experience implementing evidence-based behavioural family interventions with young children with disruptive behaviours at the UNSW Psychology Clinic. Her goal in working with children and families is to develop and strengthen the parent-child relationship to create a warm, fun, and enjoyable family environment.
